Spring lacrosse is a rec sport and teams are filled up on a first come first serve basis. Tryouts are for when we have enough players for more than 1 team. Teams will be formed based on experience and skill. We encourage you to sign up EARLY to ensure a spot for your child.
We have teams for boys in 1st-8th grades. Occasionally we have kindergartenders that play with the 8U team based on their ability to stay focused for the length of practice. EVERY year we have new kids sign up at all ages. It is never too late to start.
All players will require full equipment to play including:
- helmet
- shoulder/chest protector (new standard in January 2022)
- elbow pads
- gloves
- mouth guard
- athletic cup
- cleats (no metal spikes)
- lacrosse stick
STORM is a boys lacrosse club. Pleasanton PRIDE is the local club that offers girls lacrosse during the same season. If there's a girl interested in playing full contact lacrosse we can request a waiver for play. Reach out if you want more information.
Practices are held on weekdays and games are on the weekends. Based on age groups the following is typical:
- 8u - 1 hr practice once a week with 1 game on the weekend
- 10u - 1-1.5 hr practice twice a week with 1-2 games on the weekend
- 12u - 1.5 hr practice twice a week with 1-2 games on the weekend
- 14u - 1.5 hr practice twice a week with 1-2 games on the weekend
The 8 and 10u age groups will typically have a "play day" early in the season with several games in 1 day. All age groups may have the option for an End of Season Tournament where play will occur over 2 days and teams will get to play in 3-5 games based on performance.
Dogs are NOT allowed inside the fence at Bernal Community Park (formally known as Patelco). This rule is a City of Pleasanton rule that we must enforce. If you bring your furry friend to watch lacrosse please be prepared that you will need to set up outside the fence to watch. Thank you for your understanding.
Short answer is NO. Scheduling is done by our volunteers. This task takes into consideration the team's skill level, age, location of competition, and availability of appropriate competition. Some years we play more home games, but typically about 1/2 of the games will be away. We do not schedule games the weekend before or after spring break, nor on Mother's Day.
The aim is to have 10-15 games in a season with some of these games occurring on a Play Day or End of Season Tournament were several games will be played in a day.
YES! We are always looking for parents and community members to step up to help coach. Many of our coaches have never played lacrosse before, but want to get involved and help out. We appreciate all the volunteers and welcome new people always.
